The first society was founded in 1965 by the late Mrs Patricia Fay OBE and NADFAS was formed and registered as an educational charity in 1968. The Arts Society consists of member societies whose aim is to increase enjoyment, knowledge and stimulate interest in the preservation of our cultural heritage. There are now almost 92,000 members with 375 societies in the UK, 11 in mainland Europe, 7 in New Zealand and 30 societies in Australia.

The Arts Society (TAS) is a leading arts charity which works to advance decorative and fine arts education and appreciation, alongside promoting the conservation of our artistic heritage. TAS opens up the world of the arts for everyone to enjoy, learn, participate in, and preserve.

With inspiring monthly lectures given by top experts in their fields, together with days of special interest, educational visits and cultural holidays, TAS is a great way to learn, have fun and make new and lasting friendships.
